Monday Morning Power Rankings: Week 25

1. Columbus Blue Jackets

Remaining near being the top team in the league, the Blue Jackets are projected to draw an injured Penguins squad in the playoffs unless one of the two teams overcomes the Capitals in the standings. Prorating their last 10 games to the rest of the season, Columbus is aiming to do just that. They’ve won seven of their last 10, with another game being an overtime loss.

2. Washington Capitals

Washington’s won their last four, and are rocketing back into a position of power. In those four games, they’ve scored five goals, four goals, two goals (against league #2 Columbus), and four goals and are looking like the team they were before the deadline, which is scary for any team they might face in the first round.

3. Chicago Blackhawks

Chicago’s been barely beating playoff bubble or lottery teams, so there may be some cause to worry. That being said, they have been winning and will likely still destroy whoever will meet them in the first round.

4. Pittsburgh Penguins

Pittsburgh is tied with Columbus in the standings, but haven’t been as hot – they’ve won five of their last 10, but they’ve forced another three into overtime. There shouldn’t be anything to worry about for the rest of the season, but playoffs will pit them against a tough Metro Division competitor.

5. Anaheim Ducks

Somewhat surprising is the Ducks’ meteoric rise. Coming from a playoff question mark, they’ve shot to first in the division with help of the Sharks’ troubles as of late. As a team firing on all cylinders, whoever the first Wild Card seed is should watch out.

6. Edmonton Oilers

7. St. Louis Blues

8. Montreal Canadiens

9. New York Rangers

10. Nashville Predators

11. Calgary Flames

12. Toronto Maple Leafs

13. Boston Bruins

14. Ottawa Senators

15. Tampa Bay Lightning

16. Minnesota Wild

17. San Jose Sharks

18. New York Islanders

19. Carolina Hurricanes

20. Los Angeles Kings

21. Winnipeg Jets

22. Florida Panthers

23. Philadelphia Flyers

24. Dallas Stars

25. Detroit Red Wings

26. Buffalo Sabres

27. Arizona Coyotes

28. Colorado Avalanche

29. Vancouver Canucks

The addition of Brock Boeser is certainly an exciting one – he scored a goal in his first game and has had great chemistry with Bo Horvat and Sven Baertschi. While the season is pretty much over for Vancouver, they can now look to next season with hope.

30. New Jersey Devils
